Fuel Recommendation

Fuel cans

Always use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline. Briggs & Stratton recommends fuel that is a minimum of 87 octane. Fuels containing up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) are acceptable. Gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol, such as E85, should NEVER be used.

Purchase fuel in a quantity that can be sued within 30 days to assure fuel freshness and volatility tailored to the season. Do not mix oil with gasoline. We also recommend using Briggs & Stratton® Advanced Formula Fuel Treatment, which keeps gasoline fresh for up to 3 years, protects against ethanol-related issues, has triple antioxidant protection, and cleans the fuel system. The Briggs & Stratton® Fresh Start Cap and Cartridge system automatically drips fuel preservative in to your gasoline, keeping it fresh.”

Please refer to the operator's manual for additional recommendations and warranty information specific to your engine.
